In Flanders Fields

In Flanders fields the poppies blow
Between the crosses, row on row
That mark our place; and in the sky
The larks, still bravely singing, fly
Scarce heard amid the guns below.

We are the Dead. Short days ago
We lived, felt dawn, saw sunset glow,
Loved and were loved, and now we lie
In Flanders fields.

Take up our quarrel with the foe:
To you from failing hands we throw
The torch; be yours to hold it high.
If ye break faith with us who die
We shall not sleep, though poppies grow
In Flanders fields.

John McCrae (1872-1918)
Let us never forget..Tom

A Dog's Soul

Every dog must have a soul
    Somewhere deep inside
Where all his hurts and grievances
    Are buried with his pride
Where he decides the good and bad
    The wrong way from the right,
And where his judgment carefully
    Is hidden from our sight.
A dog must have a secret place
    Where every thought abides,
A sort of close acquaintance that
    He trusts in and confides.
And when accused unjustly for
    Himself, He cannot speak,
Rebuked, He finds within his soul
   The comfort he must seek.
He'll love, though he is unloved,
   And he'll serve though badly used,
And one kind word will wipe away
   The times when he's abused.

Although  his heart may break in two
   His love will still be whole,
Because God gave to every dog
   An understanding Soul!

- A WHALES PRAYER -
By Gypsy Lewis June 28 1999

For the love of whales a battle fought near and far.
 I pray to the heavenly heavens and wish upon a star..

 send a blessing to the whales softly to let them be.
 As they swim and gently play in the deep blue sea..

Let's look into their souls and give them our well being.
We have to protect their lives for this I have deep feeling!..

I feel they know we're helping to protect their lives each day.
 We have to learn to protect them and respect their mighty way!

So in your dreams swim with them and let their young grow old!
 Never to be in captivity to be free and never sold!

Texan

A Texan farmer goes to Australia for a vacation.
Aussie

 There he meets an Aussie farmer and gets talking. The Aussie shows off his big
wheat field and the Texan says, "Oh! We have wheat fields that are at least twice
as large." Then they walk around the ranch a little, and the Aussie shows off his herd
of cattle. The Texan immediately says, "We have longhorns that are at least
  twice as large as your cows."

The conversation has, meanwhile, almost died when the Texan sees a herd
of kangaroos hopping through the field. He asks, "And what are those?"

The Aussie replies with an incredulous look, "Don't you have any
  grasshoppers in Texas?"

Papa dog's advice to his son....

If you have to go to the bathroom while playing in the
front yard, always use the newspaper that's placed in
the driveway every morning just for that purpose.

Always take a BIG drink from your water dish just before
licking your human. Humans prefer clean tongues. Be
ready to fetch your human a towel though.

Rather than digging a BIG hole in the middle of the yard
and upsetting your human, dig a lot of smaller holes all
over the yard so they won't notice. If you arrange a little
pile of dirt on one side of each hole, they will think a
gopher did it.

It is perfectly permissible to lie on the new couch as
soon as your humans go to bed.

Housebreaking is very important to humans. They are
always talking about it, so break as much of the house
as possible to keep them happy.

When chasing cats, never quite catch them. It spoils all your
fun and it hurts like the dickens!

WHOOPS!!!!!

~~~~PUPPY DON'TS~~~~
Don't smell crotches, don't eat plants.
Don't steal food or underpants.
Don't eat my socks, don't grab my hair...
Don't rip the stuffing from the chair!!
Don't eat those peas! Don't touch that bush!
Don't chew my shoes. What is that mush?
Eat your cookie, drink your drink.
Outta the toilet! Outta the sink!!
Away from the cat box, its for the CAT!
(And MUST you kiss me? After that???)
Yes, training a puppy is not for the lazy!
Though puppies are funny, they're also crazy.
But don't despair, though it's toil and strife.
After 3 years, you'll get back your life!
So, let's go for "walkies", you can "do your thing".
(And perhaps I'll get back my GOOD DIAMOND RING!)
Thanks Jan
AN ANIMAL'S LOVE
On her soft warm fur
My tears began to fall
She came without me asking
She came without a call
She comforted me without a sound
Just her gentle touch
She knew that I was hurting
And she knew just how much
And patiently she waited
For at least an hour or two
Until my tears began to fade
Until there were only a few
I realized just then
That an animal's love is true
They'll always be there by your side
And they'll never stop loving you
Thanks Scott
Quite often I receive e-mails from readers about there pets
passing from this earth to Rainbow Bridge. My heart
goes out to all of you. Many of your comments have touched
me dearly. Our pets are just like family to us. I would like to
pass this one on to all as it really touched me deeply.
Tess
( Baby-Pooh )
Tess...... How can we tell you what a joy you were to our lives?
Tess..... You were the most loving , gentle, kind, and loyal companion.......
You came to us on a rainy Georgia afternoon in 1994.......
You decided to "come on in" through the fence......
Little did you know that day, that you had come to stay.......
You were just 12 pounds and a sick little girl when you arrived......
We took you to the vet, and found out that you were over 1 year old.....
We got you all fixed up, and in no time you were on your way... eating... drinking....growing...playing....
 and yes, even "Natasha" accepted you as her Canine sister.
The two of you became the best of friends !
We made the trek back home to California in 1995, and you became a "California Girl".
Tess..... We will never forget you, standing at the front door, covered from head to tail with mud,
with a Carp fish in your mouth....it was your way of bringing "gifts" to us.
You had the most gentle spirit of any other animal that we have known......
You never snapped, bit, or growled at anyone...... You loved people !
You were sent to us as a "gift"... a "package of LOVE" all wrapped up as a "black Labrador angel"
 and we will never forget you as long as we live.
The day that we got the news that you had lymphatic cancer, we were devastated.
You never gave up ! You tried up until the last day of your life to show courage ! And you DID !
We could have let you go on and suffer, but we made the decision to let you leave us in "peace" and to go quickly.
At the animal hospital, we said our good-byes, I took you into the exam room,
held you as close as possible, kissed your sweet face and you passed on to a place with no more
pain and no more suffering...... A big part of me died as I kissed you one more time after you had "gone"....
But...... TESS (Baby-Pooh ), no one can take you away from my heart or from the special corners of my mind that hold the most precious treasures......the memories of you !
We love you TESS (Baby-Pooh) our "Beloved" and "Cherished" and "Beautiful" Angel !
